Nutrition
Nutrition is all the things that fuel our body and affect our health, it is not just food.
What we eat, what we listen to, stress, sleep, exercise, toxic level, relationships & social connections all play a part. Each of these areas impact our gut microbiome, immune system, brain, and hormones. Whether we need to heal from a chronic disease or want to achieve optimal health, all these lifestyle factors must be considered. Developing these seven Core Health Principles into healthy daily habits is the recipe for healing.
One thing all diseases have in common is inflammation. Most inflammation begins in the gut, but also comes from stress/elevated cortisol, toxins – chemical and emotional, and food. Each of us is unique, with different chemistry, lifestyle, and ancestry. Your roadmap to healing is just as individual.
Unresolved emotional trauma is a major root cause of disease and dysfunction. Trauma and stress are stored in the body and will show up physically, if not resolved. The liver holds emotions of anger, resentment & unforgiveness, kidneys store worry and fear, and the lungs are affected by grief and sadness. When stress and trauma are unmanaged, the nervous system is in a constant state of fight or flight, and it changes how the brain processes reactions to ordinary situations. We cannot be emotionally unbalanced and physically well. Most people who come to my office have physical issues due to unresolved trauma. The Zone Technique is extremely effective for regulating the nervous system, resetting brain signals, and balancing the body, allowing it to heal. Regular Zone adjustments are an important part of our healing protocols, in addition to optimizing nutrients by adding whole foods and personalized supplements.

FOOD IS MEDICINE!
The science of using food as medicine to prevent and treat disease dates back thousands of years. Big Pharma, which has only been around for about 100 years, does not want you to understand this; medications increase the body’s need for nutrients and high-quality foods even more. There is a direct correlation between the sharp rise in chronic disease, and the introduction of processed foods loaded with toxins that make up the standard American diet. Nutrient deficiencies and toxicity are linked to nearly all modern health concerns. It is estimated that 90% of Americans are nutrient deficient; with magnesium, vitamin D, B12, and collagen topping the list. Health conditions associated with nutrient deficiencies include cancer, auto-immune disorders, heart disease, reproductive problems, migraines, joint pain, hormone imbalance, neurological issues, and more.
We are Divinely created for perfect health; however, it is up to us to provide the proper tools and nutrients are powerful tools! Feed your gut, transform your body and your brain. Healthy gut bacteria are responsible for everything from nutrient absorption and hormone production to a strong immune system. Healing foods include fresh vegetables, leafy greens, fruits, healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, olive and coconut oils, omega-3 rich foods such as wild salmon, mackerel, and sardines. These medicinal foods make a huge impact on overall health by supporting inflammation levels, a healthy insulin response, increasing energy, and improving your mood.
Food is information. Food communicates with gut bacteria and our genes. The food we eat has the power to turn genes on or off. For example: a clean diet, as described above, has the ability to turn off disease genes and turn on longevity genes. Through diet and other lifestyle factors, you can control the expression of genes and live a happy, healthy life. This idea of turning on/off messages that foster health or disease is called Nutrigenomics.
The fastest way to improve your health is to change what is on your fork. Our health mindset must shift. Instead of reacting after a sickness, be proactive by creating an environment where illness and disease cannot thrive. Change your food for 30 days and you will be amazed at how much better you feel and function! Energy, good sleep, mental clarity, longevity, and a strong healthy body can be achieved through the power of real food. Make a variety of bright, colorful veggies the star of every meal.

Why Do We Need To Supplement?
Research shows that 95% of Americans are deficient in one or more nutrients. The Standard American diet is highly processed, loaded with sugar, and virtually void of all vitamins and minerals. Also, our soil is depleted, and even our fruits and vegetables are not as nutrient dense as they once were.
Vitamins, minerals, and other supplements are often thought of as things we take after we become sick. The truth is, they are tools our body’s need everyday to function. We should be thinking of supplements proactively to ensure strong immune systems, healthy digestion, clear focused cognitive function, healthy elimination, and hormones.
Nutritional deficiencies are another major root cause of many chronic diseases. The most common deficiencies are: Vitamin D, Iron, Magnesium, B-Vitamins, Omega-3’ s and minerals.
Did you know that minerals are stored in the bones? If we do not get them in our diet, these minerals get pulled from the bones to help combat stress, produce hormones, and convert carbohydrates into usable energy. If bones are not re-mineralized through food and supplementation, this can lead to bone degradation. Omega-3 fatty acids are critical for brain function and supporting healthy inflammation levels. B-Vitamins are involved in the methylation process, MTHFR, brain/nervous system and are co-factors in the production of hormones & neurotransmitters. Optimize your nutrients, optimize your health!
